“Stay Anonymous” Bill Reconsidered and Approved

EIGHT STATES ALLOW THEIR LOTTERY WINNERS TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS. NOW, IF YOU WON A LOT OF MONEY IN NEW MEXICO, LIKE BIG-TIME LOTTERY MONEY…YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO KEEP YOUR NAME OUT OF THE PUBLIC EYE.

THIS BILL WAS TABLED AFTER GETTING A TIE-VOTE ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON … LEADING EVERYONE TO THINK IT WAS DEAD. BUT THE MEASURE WAS RECONSIDERED BY THE SENATE PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE AND GOT A “DO PASS” VOTE.

SENATE BILL 397, PROPOSED BY SENATOR PAT WOODS, WOULD CHANGE THE RULES IN THE STATE, ALLOWING LOTTERY WINNERS THE OPTION TO STAY ANONYMOUS.
