Albuquerque Mayor Announces Downtown Plan

THE KELLER ADMINISTRATION SAYS IT NOW HAS A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO BATTLE CRIME DOWNTOWN. POLICE CHIEF MICHAEL GEIER SAYS THERE’S A NEW DOWNTOWN PUBLIC SAFETY DISTRICT WHICH WILL OPERATE OUT OF THE ALVARADO TRANSPORTATION CENTER AND SAYS THEY’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO CLEANING UP DOWNTOWN ALBUQUERQUE. HE SAYS IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING.

GEIER SAYS EIGHT OFFICERS ARE NOW ASSIGNED TO THE SUBSTATION…WITH FOUR ADDITIONAL OFFICERS BEING ADDED LATER THIS MONTH. CITY OFFICIALS SAY THE MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRANSIT DEPARTMENTS WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SECURITY…AND ALBUQUERQUE FIRE RESCUE WILL ALSO INCREASE ITS PRESENCE IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA.
