Bernalillo County Approves Healthcare Resolution

THE BERNALILLO COUNTY COMMISSION LAST (TUES) NIGHT UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED A RESOLUTION SPONSORED BY COMMISSION CHAIR STEVEN MICHAEL QUEZADA THAT BACKS MORE AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE FOR NEW MEXICANS WHO ARE NOT INSURED.

THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GET A MEDICAID BUY-IN PLAN UNDER THE RESOLUTION WHICH QUEZADA SAYS IS A CHANCE FOR MORE THAN 50 THOUSAND RESIDENTS IN THE COUNTY WHO LACK INSURANCE. THE BUY-IN OPTION IS SAID TO BE A WAY TO REDUCE HEALTHCARE COSTS AND RESPOND TO FEDERAL ACTIONS THAT ARE DRIVING UP THOSE COSTS AND CREATING UNCERTAINTY IN THE INSURANCE BUSINESS.
