NM A-G Issues Statement on Cutting Lobo Sports

THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO BOARD OF REGENTS IS BEING TOLD IT WILL HAVE TO RE-DO ITS MEETING FROM JULY 19TH AT WHICH SEVERAL LOBO SPORTS WERE CUT DUE TO BUDGET ISSUES. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE SAYS THE MEETING VIOLATED THE “OPEN MEETINGS ACT” BECAUSE IT WASN’T SPECIFIC ENOUGH WHEN THE AGENDA LISTED THE ITEM AS “DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON ATHLETICS.”

THE A-G’S OFFICE SAYS THE AGENDA HAS TO GIVE THE PUBLIC AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE ON WHAT ACTION MIGHT BE TAKEN . THE SCHOOL IS ALSO BEING TOLD IT HAS 15 DAYS TO CORRECT THE VIOLATION OF THE OPEN MEETINGS ACT.
