New Twist of NM’s Opioid Lawsuits

THE NEW MEXICO ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE IS WAITING FOR A REPLY FROM ONE OF THE DRUG COMPANIES IT’S SUING TO RECOVER THE COST OF THE OPIOID EPIDEMIC. ASSISTANT A-G BRIAN MCMATH SAYS THE A-G’S OFFICE IS NOT UPSET THAT THE MCKESSON DRUG COMPANY REMOVED NEW MEXICO’S CASE AGAINST THEM FROM STATE COURT TO FEDERAL COURT … SOMETHING THAT WAS EXPECTED. HE EVEN SAYS HIS OFFICE ISN’T UPSET THAT MCKESSON TOOK THIS TACTIC. BUT THE REAL COST OF THIS IS THAT IT DELAYS RELIEF.

MCMATH SAYS COMPANIES HAVE LOST THIS LEGAL ARGUMENT TO GET THE CASE TO FEDERAL COURT IN OTHER STATES, LIKE DELAWARE. HE SAYS HE EXPECTS THE SAME ARGUMENT TO BE LOST THIS TIME AS WELL.
