Lake Levels Down for Memorial Day

WITH LITTLE SNOW OVER THE WINTER, AND A MEAGER SPRING RUNOFF, IT’S NO SURPRISE THAT LAKE LEVELS IN NEW MEXICO ARE DOWN AS WE APPROACH MEMORIAL DAY. BETH WOJAHN WITH THE STATE PARKS DEPARTMENT SAYS THE ACRE-FEET TOTAL AT ELEPHANT LAKE STATE PARK IS DOWN ABOUT 20 PERCENT FROM A YEAR AGO.

ELEPHANT BUTTE IS THE MOST POPULAR DESTINATION FOR NEW MEXICANS OVER MEMORIAL DAY. WOJAHN SAYS THEY EXPECT ABOUT 80-THOUSAND VISITORS THERE FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.
