Far Northeast Fire Puts Residents on Edge

INVESTIGATORS ARE TRYING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF A BRUSH FIRE THAT THREATENED HOMES IN THE HIGH DESERT AREA EAST OF TRAMWAY TUESDAY AFTERNOON. TOM RUIZ WITH THE ALBUQUERQUE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAYS 21 HOMES WERE EVACUATED AND THREE SUSTAINED SOME EXTERIOR DAMAGE.

THE ALBUQUERQUE FIRE DEPARTMENT, STATE FORESTRY AND BERNALILLO COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE AMONG AGENCIES THAT HELPED TO CONTAIN THE FIRE. RUIZ SAYS THERE WAS CONCERN DUE TO THE DRY CONDITIONS AND STRONG WINDS. THE FIRE ENDED UP BURNING ABOUT SEVEN ACRES.
