NM Drought Worsens

DROUGHT CONDITIONS ARE GETTING WORSE IN NEW MEXICO. THE LATEST GOVERNMENT REPORT SHOWS MORE THAN HALF THE STATE IS NOW UNDER EXTREME OR EXCEPTIONAL DROUGHT. ALBUQUERQUE FINDS ITSELF IN THE EXTREME DROUGHT CATEGORY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MORE THAN FIVE YEARS. ALBUQUERQUE HAS GOTTEN LESS THAN THREE-QUARTERS OF AN INCH OF RAIN AND SNOW MELT IN 2018…AND ONLY 18-HUNDREDTHS SINCE THE FIRST OF MARCH.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE ENTIRE STATE LAST FRIDAY, MEANING FIRE DANGER IS HIGH DUE TO THE WINDS AND ONGOING DRY CONDITIONS.
