Drought Impact NM Ag Industry

     TOUGH TIMES FOR THOSE INVOLVED IN THE STATE’S AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY. WITH VIRTUALLY THE ENTIRE STATE AFFECTED BY DROUGHT, FARMERS AND RANCHERS ARE FACING INCREASED COSTS. DALENE HODNETT WITH THE NEW MEXICO FARM AND LIVESTOCK BUREAU SAYS SPRING RUNOFF IS NOT EXPECTED TO AMOUNT TO MUCH. SHE SAYS THEY NEED MORE WATER FOR THEIR CROPS AND TO WATER THEIR CATTLE.
     AND HODNETT SAYS RANCHERS WILL FACE CHALLENGES GETTING FEED TO CATTLE SINCE THE RANGE WON’T BE GREENING UP…AND SOME OF THE CATTLE MAY HAVE TO BE SOLD OFF.
