The New Mexico Department of Health is reporting widespread influenza activity in the state. UNMH Doctor Janet Ventura says a flu shot remains your best protection. She says some people might think the shot will give them the flu, but don’t be alarmed. She says it’s your body building its immune response tot he flu.
Ventura says anyone with other medical issues that can be aggravated by the flu should see a doctor at the first signs of illness.
